We are thrilled to mount our first public reading of Hag thanks to support from Pipeline Arts and The New Group. We hope this show will resonate today in a world where questions and experiences around aging, changing bodies continue to be ignored. We are interested in recontextualizing the role of music in stage horror - something more human and uncontrollable than how music might function in a traditional musical.
KATE DOUGLAS
is a writer/performer and composer. Recent work: The Apiary (Outer Critics Circle Award nomination), Tulipa (2024 NYSCA grant recipient), The Lucky Few starring opposite her co-writer Todd Almond (Ancram Opera House), and The Ninth Hour starring opposite her co-writer Shayfer James (The Met Cloisters).
Residencies at SPACE on Ryder Farm, Swale House on Governors Island, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, Millay Arts, and Goodspeed Musicals, among others. Alum of the Dramatists Guild Fellows Program, Colt Coeur, The Civilian R&D Group, GTG Speakers Corner, and The Orchard Project Greenhouse.
Previous performance credits include Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More (where she also held the title of Associate Artist), Liz Phair’s 30th Anniversary Tour of her seminal album Exile in Guyville, Fernando Rubio’s Everything by my side, Third Rail’s The Grand Paradise, and Kansas City Choir Boy starring Todd Almond and Courtney Love.

GRACE MCLEAN is a multi-hyphenate actress-singer-writer-teacher. Broadway (Suffs; Bad Cinderella; Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), Off Broadway (New Group, MCC, LCT3, Public, La MaMa, Vineyard, among others) and TV/film (The Other Two – HBO; The First Lady – Showtime).
Grace’s first original musical In The Green was commissioned and produced by Lincoln Center Theater and earned a Richard Rodgers Award for writing and a Lucille Lortel for her performance. Her work with composer Alex Bechtel and director Eva Steinmetz earned another Richard Rodgers Award for their piece Penelope. Recognition: Best Score from Brooklyn Film Festival and Athens International Film Festival, Vivace Award, Jonathan Larson Grant, Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award, and Broadway Women’s Fund Woman to Watch.
Grace has taught at NYU, The New School, Northwestern, UNCC, Orange County School of the Arts, New York Youth Symphony, among others. She has developed work at Manhattan School of Music, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, SPACE on Ryder Farm, The Orchard Project, The O’Neill, Johnny Mercer Writer’s Colony at Goodspeed, The PiTCH, CAP21, The Civilians R&D Group, and MacDowell. “Penelope: Live at Joe’s Pub” is available on Joy Machine Records.
